Wavecom designs, develops and manufactures a wide range of fully integrated plug-in wireless modules and modems based on GSM (global system for mobile), GPRS (general packet radio service) and 3G (3rd generation mobile) technologies. Divided into three distinct lines - modules, external modems and integrated modems - all Wavecom products are based on its unique WISMO (wireless standard module) technology.

WISMO is a compact, fully integrated device containing all of the software, hardware and other technology needed to implement a wireless telecommunications standard. It is designed for use in a wide variety of systems and wireless terminals such as telephony, telemetry, multimedia, and automotive markets. Wavecom modems support data, voice, fax, and SMS.

Standard interfaces ensure WISMO can be integrated into all systems. Remote control is easy to implement, encryption algorithms deliver security and SIM interfaces are included in a package that is fully shielded and type approved. For handset applications, the software platform supports a full range of services, including call forwarding, multiparty communications and advice of charge. A realtime clock and screen interface are already embedded.
