Analog Devices is offering its first voice and video over IP chipset, the ADSST-VC-7000 that delivers realtime voice and video communications to a wide range of broad-band-connected environments within the cost-sensitive consumer market.
It features up to 30 frames/s full-motion performance in CIF (352 x 288 pixels) and still images in 4CIF (704 x 576 pixels) resolution, and uses scaleable bit rate to enable operation over cable, xDSL, Ethernet, 3G or fibre. The voice and video over IP chipset supports CCIR656-compatible digital or NTSC/PAL analog composite cameras and enables direct connection to a standard NTSC/PAL television or a QVGA LCD panel.
ADI's Blackfin DSP core with Micro Signal Architecture is used in the chipset.
The ADSST-VC-7000 chipset includes a dedicated video I/O controller to form a complete subsystem that does not require a PC to add realtime voice and video communications capability to consumer products connected to broadband networks. The subsystem can transform a standard television or video game console into a high-quality, interactive voice and video communications terminal.
