Line-powered V.22 bis modem plus DAA

CML Microcircuits' CMX878 a line-powered multistandard modem for use in telephone based information and telemetry systems is designed to operate on only line-power, no batteries are needed. In addition to modem capabilities, the CMX878 provides the building blocks for interfacing to the telephone line without the need for a transformer or capacitor, with the Data Access Arrangement (DAA). This allows for the coupling of the data signals to and from the line. It can also detect ringing and line reversals.

Very low power consumption and built-in power management makes the device suitable for telephone line-power usage. The host microprocessor can be de-powered whilst awaiting the detection of a ring, line reversal or wake event. Control of the device is through a high speed serial bus compatible with most types of µC serial interface. Data transmitted and received by the modem is transferred over the same serial bus.

The CMX878 is available in both 28-pin SOIC and SSOP and in 24-pin TSSOP packages.
