Chips for broadband communications

3 July 2002 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

TDK Semiconductor offers a range of broadband communication products.

* DS3/E3/STS-1 transceivers: TDK Semiconductor is a leader in wireline line interface units (LIUs) for T3/E3 and Sonet/SDH WAN applications. Millions of ports of its popular DS3/E3/STS-1 transceivers have been shipped worldwide. Leveraging strengths in high-speed analog and mixed-signal design, TDK recently expanded the DS3/E3/STS-1 LIU family to include a full line of multiport units that offer a typical per-port power dissipation of less than 270 mW @ 3,3 V.

* OC-3/STM-1/STS-3/E4 transceivers: TDK offers a family of Sonet/SDH LIUs operating at either 155,52 Mbit/s (OC-3, STS-3 or STM-1) or 139,264 Mbit/s (E4) rates. These LIUs or transceivers are the ideal choice for WAN transmission, DSLAMs, digital cross-connects, add/drop multiplexers, test equipment and digital loop carrier (DLC) equipment where low power consumption, small size and high performance are required.

* Ethernet and Fast Ethernet: TDK's 3,3 V Fast Ethernet PHY (78Q2120) is an ideal solution for portable and embedded applications requiring the lowest possible power consumption without compromising performance. With the recent introduction of TDK Semiconductor's first Fast Ethernet 10/100 media controller IC (78Q8411), it now offers a complete adapter card solution for CardBus and mini-PCI applications.

* Consumer access products: TDK's modem IC products set design standards for applications such as point-of-sale (POS) and credit card verification terminals, smartcard readers, direct broadcast satellite billing, security systems, pay phones and other high demand applications. The 73M2901CL 'all in one' single-chip modem combines all the controller (DTE) and data pump functions necessary to implement an intelligent V.22bis data modem. It has a flexible architecture that allows cost-effective modem designs and supports a wide variety of applications.
