Compact dielectric filters for WLANs/Bluetooth

Demand in the wireless LAN and Bluetooth market is estimated to reach several million systems within the next few years. Bluetooth and WLAN transceivers, especially those integrated into PCMCIA or compact flash cards, call for a high degree of miniaturisation. Up till now, designers have had to use LC combinations as filters for WLAN and Bluetooth equipment. These are small and economical, but their selectivity is not high in quality. Epcos has developed a range of innovative filters for Bluetooth and WLAN applications that combine the precise characteristics of dielectric filters with the compact dimensions of LC filters.
