New protocol analyser supports nine interface modules

16 Feb 2000 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

WWG SA has introduced a new protocol analyser. The DominoPlus is a single chassis that supports nine different interface modules and more than 20 high-speed network interfaces - a value proposition it says is unmatched in the network analysis industry.

The DominoPlus delivers laboratory-quality power and performance in a truly portable package. By employing multiple independent RISC processors coupled with a high speed hardware architecture, all DominoPLUS interface modules are capable of capturing and monitoring full duplex traffic at full line rate speeds.

The first release of DominoPLUS supports Fast Ethernet, ATM and HSSI high-speed WAN via plug-in modules. These modules are sold seperately or can be purchased in prepackaged configurations with the DominoPLUS chassis. Future modules will support FDDI and ATM25.

10/100 Fast Ethernet Interface (DominoFE)

Industry's First Support of Fast Etherchannel. The DominoFE solution, which supports both 10 and 100 Mbps Ethernet in half-and full-duplex mode, provides the industry's first ability to analyse and troubleshoot Fast EtherChannel network segments.

Fast EtherChannel is a new high-speed bandwidth aggregation technology for connecting LAN switches, routers and servers together to provide scalable and resilient switched networks. Fast EtherChannel provides network managers with the ability to create fast, reliable, high-speed backbones using existing cabling and network device infrastructure at minimal cost.

Because EtherChannel is comprised of several links, the ability for complete monitoring, diagnosis and troubleshooting across all links goes beyond the ability of other analysers on the market. DominoPLUS's unique stacking ability allows up to eight Domino analysers to be controlled locally by one PC. Further, all the Domino analysers in a stack have synchronised time stamps, so analysis can be performed across segments, devices and networks.
