Following the recent announcement that Webb Industries will market Times Microwave Systems' military cables, Webb has introduced the innovative Blind Mate 'plug-in and forget' quick release antenna mount which can be quickly and easily mounted onto an aircraft.
The Blind Mate system enables avionic and electronic warfare antennas to be quickly installed and removed from platforms without having to connect or disconnect the coaxial cable. According to Webb Industries, most existing antennas can be easily converted to the new Blind Mate system by simply attaching a screw-on alignment sleeve. System reliability, maintainability and serviceability are all improved and mission equipment role changes are simplified.
Blind Mate eliminates the need for a cable service loop, which reduces insertion loss. Mechanical vibration loads are also transferred from the coaxial interconnecting cables to the airframe via the mounting bracket and receiving sleeve. Blind Mate antenna systems are also uniquely designed for each application by Times Microwave engineers says the distributor.
