Sampling has commenced for Menlo Micro’s MM5600, a DC-20 GHz, 40 Gbps DPDT (double-pole double-throw) switch. Evaluation boards are also available, with versions for differential or single-ended mode operation.
The MM5600 is built on Menlo Micro's ‘Ideal Switch’ technology which offers advanced RF and thermal performance and very high levels of reliability. The high-speed differential switch operates from DC to 20 GHz and supports up to 40 Gbps for applications such as PCIe Gen 5, SerDes, USB and other high-speed digital peripherals and interfaces. It can be configured either as a differential DPDT switch or in single-ended mode with dual SP3T operation.
The MM5600 targets high-speed digital test and measurement, ATE, load boards, as well as RF front-end systems. Menlo Micro claims this Ideal Switch provides over 90% in board space savings when compared with traditional electromechanical relays and it comes with an internal high-voltage driver that utilises a serial-to-parallel interface. The switch comes in an 8 x 8 mm LGA surface-mount package.
