Sigfox South Africa is the country’s open access, massive IoT network dedicated to connecting devices, sensors and physical assets. The global Sigfox cloud-based platform, which is available in over 70 countries with over 12 million connections globally is licensed by Sigfox SA. There are currently close to one million registered devices on the network in SA.
Sigfox SA’s fully managed business-grade network covers over 92% of South Africa’s population, and over 90% of the national roads, highways including strategic national parks, and agricultural areas. The network is managed 24/7 via global and local South African network operating centres and maintains service levels of over 99% uptime.
The local network supports a vast customer base processing on average 4,3 million messages daily from devices across multiple industries. Being the only open access, service-level based radio frequency network in SA, a full device-managed, API driven cloud-based platform is provided that enables end-to-end IoT solution development.
Sigfox SA primarily provides a wholesale solution to IoT network connectivity by supporting solution providers and system integrators in becoming Sigfox certified channel partners. Sigfox’s channel partner ecosystem builds innovative solutions to solve business problems and assist end customers in disrupting their business models using Sigfox technology.
Globally, there are over 1000 certified devices developed, with South Africa ranking as the third highest country in terms of global Sigfox-produced certified devices. This demonstrates the high level of skills, knowledge and competency that South African companies have in IoT-related Sigfox technologies and solutions.
Locally, a well-established channel partner base of over 70 companies supports various market segments including utilities, security, asset tracking, industrial and home automation. Sigfox’s global network has the ability to transform industries, help companies enhance operations, and make informed business decisions.
