Texas Instruments introduced a new member of its sub-1 GHz radio frequency (RF) family providing connectivity for low-power wireless security, Smart Grid , industrial, healthcare, and home and building automation applications.
The new CC1125 transceiver is a single-chip solution for wireless social alarms and ultra narrowband applications, targeting ETSI EN 300 220 category 1 (ETSI Cat.1) compliance for the 869 MHz band.
To address the ETSI Cat. 1 standard, one of the world’s strictest RF regulations, the CC1125 delivers a 50% reduction in system cost and size over discrete designs, enabling smaller and more affordable end products.
Additionally, the CC1125 can be used in sub-1 GHz applications worldwide that require exceptional RF range and robustness, such as long-range wireless meter reading.
The device supports 169, 433, 868, 915 and 950 MHz bands with Rx bandwidth down to 2,8 kHz. Performance figures include 58 dB adjacent channel rejection at 25 kHz offset (67 dB at 6,25 kHz offset, 169 MHz) and 16 kHz Rx bandwidth (at 869 MHz, 1,2 kbps).
Phase noise is -115 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset, while output power ranges up to +16 dBm and sensitivity down to -129 dBm at 300 bps, providing a link budget of 145 dB. With a CC1190 range extender this link budget increases to 159 dB with up to +27 dBm output power and -132 dBm sensitivity (at 300 bps).
These performance characteristics add up to a range of more than 25 km out-of-the-box with an associated development kit.
