Ultra-small GPS engine

2 July 2003 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Leadtek's 'stamp size' 12-channel GPS engine, the GPS 9546, is said to be one of the smallest high-performance, low power consumption GPS engines on the market. Its small size makes it easy to integrate into compact applications such as handheld devices, fleet management and tracking devices. The GPS 9546 uses the SiRFstarII chipset with embedded ARM7TDMI CPU. Some key features are:

* 12 channels 'all-in-view' tracking.

* Cold/warm/hot start time: 45/38/8 seconds.

* Reacquisition time: 0,1 s.

* Support standard NMEA-0183 and SiRF binary protocol.

* Support accurate 1 pps output signal aligned with GPS timing.

* Trickle power enabled for power saving.

* Multipath mitigation hardware.

* Size 25,4 x 24,1 x 6,9 mm.

* High sensitivity version also available.
