Wide dynamic range direct up-conversion quadrature modulator

28 January 2004 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

The AD8349 is a fully-specified direct conversion modulator covering all bands from 800 MHz to 2,7 GHz. This Analog Devices IC is an I/Q quadrature modulator designed to enable a single-stage up-conversion for wireless infrastructure equipment. Covering 800 MHz to 2,7 GHz, it allows a designer to specify the AD8349, and to standardise on it across multiple operating bands and cellular standards. The AD8349 is designed to ease direct up-conversion for CDMA, W-CDMA, GSM Edge, and TDMA transmitters. The direct up-conversion architecture significantly reduces the cost compared to traditional multistage IF approach.

The I/Q baseband bandwidth is specified out to 200 MHz, thus enabling the device to be used in broadband applications and as a single sideband up-conversion stage in both cellular and wireless access equipment.
