Bluegiga releases new Bluetooth firmware

Bluegiga has taken a step forward with its iWRAP firmware by adding Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support. WT11, WT12 and WT32 modules can now be ordered with the latest iWRAP3 software version.

The new iWRAP3 version offers the following Bluetooth profiles embedded into the module:

* Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)/Sink and source modes.

* A/V Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)/AVRCP controller.

* Device Identification Profile (DI).

* Serial Port Profile (SPP)/DevA and DevB.

* Hands-Free Profile (HFP) v.1.5/HPF and HFP-AG modes.

* Dial-up Networking Profile (DUN)/ Terminal emulation.

* Object Push Profile (OPP)/OPP server.

* Human Interface Device (HID)/HID device.

iWRAP3 also has the following new features:

* Enhanced inquiry response.

* Sniff subrating to improve power consumption.

* Over-the-air configuration for modules over the Bluetooth link.

* Audio configuration.

* GPIO handlers for direct GPIO reading and writing.

* Adaptive sniff mode for automatic power optimisation.

* L2CAP connection support for profile extensions.

* Bluetooth clock for reading Piconet clock.

* Connection repeater for RFCOMM. connections to extend the Bluetooth link range.
