Bluetooth Smart beacons

Wireless sensor beacons are gaining in popularity due to the ease with which they provide location/proximity data for applications such as indoor navigation, micro-location-based services, asset tracking, inventory management, analytics and beyond.

One of the leaders in this nascent technology, Bluvision, has developed an IoT (Internet of Things) beacon with support for both of the leading open-source profiles - Eddystone and iBeacon – which were developed by Google and Apple, respectively.

The beacons leverage Texas Instruments’ SimpleLink Bluetooth Smart CC2640 wireless microcontroller to deliver long battery life while connecting beacons and sensors to each other and to the cloud. The solution will power future generations of proximity marketing applications that support user experiences with and without an app. A software development kit is available for developers to create applications for both the consumer and enterprise.
